Cheney discharged from hospital: spokesman

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former Vice President Dick Cheney, who has a long history of heart problems, was discharged from the hospital on Monday after he underwent tests and was held for observation over the weekend, his spokesman said.

Cheney, 69, who has had five heart attacks in 32 years, was admitted to George Washington University Hospital on Friday after falling ill. "Former Vice President Cheney left George Washington University Hospital earlier today," an e-mailed statement from Cheney spokesman Peter Long said.

Cheney, who was vice president under George W. Bush and played a major role in planning the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, suffered heart attacks in February, and in 1978, 1984, 1988 and 2000.
