The Employment, Training and Rehabilitation Department has created a division to help the state adopt best practices supported by the Labor Department.

The Workforce Solutions Section will be headed by outgoing Rehabilitation Division Director Michael Coleman .

"Leading this section requires adept business acumen that Dr. Coleman has exhibited time and again as the head of the Rehabilitation Division," department chief Larry Mosley said in a statement. "This new section is an important step toward the state's endeavor to address workforce needs fast approaching as a result of the tremendous job growth expected within in the next two years."

The division was developed to form partnerships with other agencies and organizations to develop and retain skilled workers, including with schools and higher education, the Labor Department, the government and businesses.

Deborah Braun, the Rehabilitation Division's deputy administrator , replaces Coleman as the division's administrator.

Black Enterprise magazine has named MGM Mirage one of the top 40 "best companies for diversity," a news release said.

The magazine credited the gaming company for its comprehensive diversity training program. MGM Mirage also outperformed other gaming companied in the categories of supplier diversity, senior management, corporate governance and employee population, the release said.

"MGM Mirage clearly takes its diversity efforts seriously," said Sonia Alleyne, the magazine's editorial director , in the release. "Having fostered an environment where diversity is an imperative, they have excelled in all four key areas: supplier diversity, senior management, board involvement, and employee base. Doctors across the valley are working with St. Rose Dominican Hospitals to offer a free congestive heart failure management program.

The program works through a doctor, whose patient has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure, working with a St. Rose nurse to design an individual program.

"St. Rose understands the commitment it takes to properly manage congestive heart failure," St. Rose President Rod Davis said in a statement. "Management of congestive heart failure helps patients reduce emergency room visits, hospitalizations and unscheduled office visits. This is why we're collaborating with physicians to offer a useful monitoring program for patients at no charge."

The president of Las Vegas -based Nevada Federal Credit Union has been elected to chair the National Association of Federal Credit Unions.

Brad Beal, the credit union's chief executive and president , will also serve as the region's director.

"In my new role on (the association's) executive committee, I look forward to continuing to preserve the credit union tax exemption and address other vital issues for credit unions," Beal said in a statement.

Nevada Federal has over $800 million is assets and the national association represents 800 federal credit unions.

Henderson -based Silver State Bank has been added to the Russell Microcap Stock Index, which, according to its Web site, "is constructed to provide a comprehensive and unbiased barometer for the microcap segment trading on national exchanges."

The bank operates 13 branches in Nevada .

San Francisco -based Bank of the West donated St. Jude's Ranch for Children, a nonprofit home for abandoned children.$10,000 to

"We know that St. Jude's Ranch is an incredible organization in the community and we are proud to support them," said Duane Marble, manager and vice president of Bank of the West, in a statement.

The bank makes a donation to the Boulder City -based organization annually.

"Bank of the West is a wonderful partner for the children who live (here)," Christine Spadafor, St. Jude's chief executive , said in a statement. "Their kindness makes a difference in (the children's) lives every day."
